  • Come January 1, 2022, Eli Lilly is lowering the list price of Insulin Lispro injection by 40%. 
  • The new list price for Insulin Lispro injection will be $82.41 per vial and $159.12 for a pack of five vials, which comes in at 70% less than the branded counterpart, Humalog U-100. 
  • Insulin Lispro injection 100 units/mL was first introduced in 2019 at half the price of Humalog (insulin lispro injection) 100 units/mL and can be substituted at the pharmacy for the branded version without a prescription. 

THE DETAILS : 

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, United States – Come January 1, 2022, Eli Lilly is lowering the list price of Insulin Lispro injection by 40%, the company announced. The new list price for Insulin Lispro injection will be $82.41 per vial and $159.12 for a pack of five vials, which comes in at 70% less than the branded counterpart, Humalog U-100.  

David A. Ricks, Lilly’s chairman and CEO, said, “Today’s list price cut can further help people who are exposed within our healthcare system – the underinsured and uninsured. Half list-priced Insulin Lispro Injection has been adopted by a third of Humalog U-100 consumers. We hope this additional 40 percent cut can expand affordable insulin to more people with diabetes.”  

Insulin Lispro injection 100 units/mL was first introduced in 2019 at half the price of Humalog (insulin lispro injection) 100 units/mL. Pharmacists can substitute Insulin Lispro U-100 for Humalog U-100 without a new prescription since they are the same insulin. As it stands, one in three prescriptions for Lilly’s U-100 mealtime insulin is for Insulin Lispro Injection.  

Additionally, monthly prescriptions for all Lilly insulins – including Insulin Lispro injection 0 remain available for $35 through the company’s Insulin Value Program (for both insured and uninsured individuals) and the Medicare Part D Senior Savings Model.  

Lilly noted that the average monthly out-of-pocket cost for a prescription of its insulin has been lowered to $28.05 over the past four years, a 27% decrease, due to affordability solutions combined with insurance coverage.
